There are many things that I would do for the woman I love
But there are also many that I can’t compromise, those won’t budge.
I’ve learnt many lessons over the years
Through the smiles, the laughter and the tears.
I won’t accept jealousy and mistrust
Those thoughts left unchecked will pull us apart.
But I will be a man who is faithful and devoted
Who gives all his attention and heart.
I won’t accept lies and silence
Played like a fool, no idea what is real until there’s proof.
But I will be a man who is open and honest
Speaks his mind always, nothing but the honest truth.
I won’t accept someone who is cold and closed
Your thoughts and emotions non-existent. What you think, a mystery.
But I will be loving and affectionate
Show you how much I love you, not only emotionally but also physically.
I won’t be a punching bag who is taken for granted.
The difference between being supportive and abused – a fine line.
But I will accept your flaws and insecurities
Take the time to understand you, give you the time
I won’t accept negativity and hatred
Continually treat me poorly and away from you I will go.
But I will support your dreams and sacrifice my own
Giving is better than receiving; that much I know.
I won’t be someone I’m not, let go of who I am
That cost is too much, it’s too great a toll.
But I will give you the world and love you forever
Give you my heart. My mind. My soul.
