Bare feet flat, frozen on the floor
Surrounded by the shards of my shattered soul
A heap of rubble that was my heart
No direction to turn, no way to start.
Sit in silence, let the darkness thicken ahead
Cover me in shadow, guide me to the edge
Where the chains break and fall from my chest
I stand on my own, time to be my best.
Pick up the pieces, turn them in my hands
Salvage those most beautiful, use them for bigger plans.
Clear the path ahead, sweep regret aside
Whose hand will appear to be my guide?
Raise my eyes, see the light glowing afar
One step forward, turns to a run toward my star
Nothing to block my twisting path
To the final resting place for my weary heart.
Writing, My Writing

Really beautiful, Leigh.
